Ensuring you have first aid cover in your workplace is both a legal requirement and the responsible thing to do. Accidents and illnesses can and do happen, so it’s important to have trained first aiders available to assist if and when required.

The Highfield Level 3 Award in First Aid Response (RQF) has been designed to give designated first aiders a more comprehensive understanding of first aid, alongside an understanding of the importance of medical and environmental intelligence when dealing with a range of casualties.

Written by our own highly qualified and experienced experts to meet Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements for training firs aiders, the qualification will help learners identify risks within their place of work and research measures to support these risks within their surrounding environment.

The qualification will support first aiders for 3 years, after which they will need to retake the course. An annual refresher is also recommended.

• These include the role and responsibilities of a first aider
• Being able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
• Being able to manage a casualty with external bleeding
• Being able to manage a casualty with a minor injury
• Understand how the environment can impact on the provision of first aid
• How to support a variety of casualties and the safe use of an automated external defibrillator
